Mindaugas Kvietkauskas

Literary scholar, poet, essayist, director at the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore in Vilnius (2008–2018). From 2019, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania. Decorated with the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland. Researcher of the early modernist multilingual literature of Vilnius Vilniaus literatūrų kontrapunktai: Ankstyvasis modernizmas 1904–1915, (The Polyphony of Literature in Vilnius in the Period of Early Modernism: 1904–1915, 2007), the works of Czesław Miłosz (with Viktorija Daujotytė) Lietuviškieja Česlovo Milošo kontekstai (Lithuanian Contexts of Czesław Miłosz, Vilnius 2011), and the literature of Lithuanian Jews, including the translation of Abraham Sutzkever Griner akvaryum (Green Aquarium) and the translation and editing of a journal from the Vilnius ghetto published by Izaak Rudaszewski. An active participant in the discussion on the shape of national culture and Lithuanian memory policy. Laureate of the Lithuanian Writers' Union award for the book of essays Uosto fugue (Harbor Fugue). Translator from Polish, among others, focused on Czesław Miłosz's poetry and essays.
